The kazoo is a simple but very fun/funny instrument.

The instrument consists of a metal or plastic tube with a paper membrane in the wall. Singing or humming a note with the kazoo in your mouth causes the membrane to vibrate, distorting and amplifying the sound.
The kazoo should be played on the wide side for best results.
The principle of the kazoo has been used in musical instruments for centuries.
With the kazoo, techniques from the harmonica can be applied, and effects can be created by moving the outgoing part of the pipe with both hands.
