The Seydel 1847 Lightning is the favorite instrument of Seydel endorser Charlie Musselwhite
It is an exceptionally dynamic blues harmonica. The elegant, polished comb, in combination with polished stainless steel reeds, is extremely easy to play with a great tonal response. It produces a great, expressive and assertive sound, making the Lightning Charlie Musselwhite's first choice!
His trademark is his expressive and at the same time technically excellent harmonica playing, which makes him one of the best harmonica players in the world.
*Charlie moved to Chicago in 1962 at the age of 18, the city of blues, and soon became part of the very lively black blues scene. None other than harmonica legend Big Walter Horton soon took him under his wing and over time Charlie played with Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf and John Lee Hooker, to name but a few.
Over the course of his long career, Charlie Musselwhite has recorded more than 20 albums of his own and was involved in countless recordings by famous colleagues. Many awards, such as 14(!) W.C. Handy Blues Awards, the induction into the "Blues Hall of Fame" in 2010 and a Grammy for his album "Get Up!" together with Ben Harper, show the great appreciation and recognition in the American and international blues scene.*
Seydel is proud to present the Charlie Musselwhite Signature model: this high-quality instrument bears the master's unmistakable signature on the cover plate and the key of G was chosen by himself. In this key, the Lightning produces an extra full, sonorous tone, ideal for blues improvisation.
