SEYDEL's Next-Generation Low-Harmonicas: featuring the world's lowest-pitched Blues harmonica – with a new Baritone design and stainless steel reeds.

The popular 1847 CLASSIC is now also available in super low keys!
redesigned with a 20% thicker comb and raised cover plates.

Available keys range from LF# (low F#) to LLE (double low E). This series extends Seydel's 1847 line of stainless steel reed harmonicas into the extreme bass range in a completely new design.

The double-low models (LL) are tuned two octaves lower than standard, making SEYDEL's 1847 LLE the lowest-tuned diatonic harmonica in the world.

Compared to 'standard tuned' models, low-tuned harmonicas offer a very sonorous, slightly softer and unobtrusive sound, making them an excellent choice for both accompaniment (chords or bass lines) and solos. The sound is comparable to that of a tenor saxophone, a trombone, or even a tuba, especially when played amplified. This significantly expands the range of applications and opens up many new possibilities for harmonica players.

To achieve the desired sound from the low-tuned models, the reeds require more space. The resonance chamber, enhanced by the 20% thicker comb (sealed walnut wood) and the higher cover plates of the new 1847 Low models, helps produce a fatter and louder sound. Special valves (windsavers) ensure very good airtightness, even in the extremely low range.

This design change positively impacts the sonority and tone control of the 1847 Low models. While the player is encouraged to open their playing style a little more to enlarge the resonance chamber, the design improvements, such as the thicker comb, help create the larger resonance chamber, resulting in a superior, low sound. The sound becomes fuller and more voluminous, and the instrument can be played with better response.

Thanks to the raised cover plates, rattling reed noises are a thing of the past with LOW harmonicas, and players get greater sound projection to the audience through the wide-open back of the instrument.

This Low 1847 series is an addition for harmonica players and requires getting used to and practice, and the result will reflect that!
